Write to hello@simkinselgazar.com and a person will answer. Most questions are covered below.

Your account and signing in

You do not have to sign in. Foundry creates an account for your phone the first time it opens and puts the free tokens on it; you can see the balance in Settings. Signing in ties that account to you, so your tokens come with you to a new phone and you can add friends.

Sign in with Google opens Google in your browser and brings you straight back. Email code: type your email and tap Send me a code; a six-digit code arrives by email. There is no password either way. If a code does not arrive within a minute, check your spam folder and try again; codes expire after a short time.

Moving to a new phone without having signed in means the old phone's tokens stay on the old phone's account, so sign in first.

Making an app

Describe one screen's worth of app in plain words. Be concrete about what it should do: “a tip calculator that splits the bill between people and remembers the last tip percentage” works better than “a money app”. Foundry writes it, tries it, fixes it and tells you when it is ready. This takes a few minutes; you can leave the app and come back.

To change an app, open its settings (the gear in the top corner) and tap Change it with AI. Every change is kept as a version, and you can go back to any earlier one from the same screen.

Permissions

An app you made asks before it first uses the camera, microphone, location or notifications, and before it first asks the AI a question. You can change any answer later in that app's settings. Foundry itself only needs the internet and, if you allow it, notifications to tell you when an app is ready.

Sharing with friends

Choose a handle in Settings, then add friends by theirs. From any app's settings, tap Share with a friend. They get their own copy, which stays available for a day. Shares only work between friends who have both accepted.

Deleting things

Hold an app on the home screen to delete it, along with everything it saved. To delete your Foundry Cloud account, see Delete account.

Something is wrong

If an app does not open, if a build is stuck, or if your balance looks wrong, email us with the handle on your account and roughly when it happened.
